Why we didn't learn this as kids blows my mind - Surrender is the Shortcut

2025.

One word, practice, technique, tool, concept I want to embody more this year is...

Surrender.

I personally feel way more people deserve to and should know about this tool I came across last year called 'Letting Go' aka Surrender.

It's hilarious how obvious this is yet barely anyone seems to know how to do it.

This is how simple it appears on the surface:

“Letting go involves being aware of a feeling, letting it come up, staying with it, and letting it run its course without wanting to make it different or do anything about it.”

To know how to handle and process our emotions in real time.

Remember seeing kids and babies losing it in a supermarket?

We don't realize it, but as adults we do the same. But the chaos is going on inside our mind and body, not expressed outwardly.

Then the chaos sinks within yourself, hidden, pushed down or stored away.

You think it's gone forever, sadly, it's definitely not.

When you hear people talk about healing, they are referring to dealing with un-proccessed, un-digested life experiences and emotions.

If you're interested in personal development, you should already be familiar with healing.

The word used to make me feel weird. I don't know why. It was probably my ego wincing at it, or more the woo-woo vibes around healing you see online.

But in reality, if you're a high performing ambitious person, healing should be part of your development journey.

I guess you could use it with the word growing. That feels a little better, right?

Therapy. Journaling. Coaching. Guidance. Meditation. Yoga. Plant Medicine.

All of it.

They are all forms of healing in terms of how they allow mind-body-soul system to feel safe enough to let old emotions surface, purify, and heal.

And then?

You're left feeling great. Higher states of consciousness, wisdom, contentment, purpose and peace become available to you.

That would be nice, wouldn't it?

It's like dissolving anything that no longer serves you.

Instead, we're experts at unconsciously repressing and consciously suppressing negative emotions in our life.

The result? These deeply hidden emotional wounds you're holding onto impact the way you feel, think, act and see the world.

They are running your programs in the background in this present day.

“What you are, is creating your future.”

— David Hawkins

It's pretty wild.

It’s a misunderstood (or missed entirely) concept and in reality if you know how to use it, it can tone down or remove completely  99% of the negative moments you experience.

You're going to learn the crux of it today.

This isn’t just some abstract idea. If you understand how to apply it, it will set you free.

Surrender is a tool that should be taught in schools, workplaces, and even at home - yet, in our society it's not.

This time last year, I didn’t even know what the word or practice Surrender truly meant.

I thought it was about giving up, about not caring.

But the deeper I dug, the more I realized it was the key to everything.

And when I read Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David Hawkins, and practiced the technique, something clicked for me.

You don’t have to read the entire book (though I highly recommend it) - just know that your ability to process your emotions is directly linked to the quality of your consciousness - and therefore, the quality of your life.

For so many years, I didn’t know how to process my emotions. It felt like there was always a mental block, like something was weighing me down.

Impatience. Frustration. Anger. Control.

I hated dealing with these emotions but they came often.

But after learning how to surrender, I realized that the weight was mostly me resisting life’s natural flow.

That’s the thing about life: it doesn’t always go the way you want, and when it doesn’t, the stress piles up.

But by practicing surrender, I learned how to deal with emotions quickly with far more ease.

The baseline of how we feel, think and act - our state of being - is usually where we spend most of our time.

For some, that’s joy, fulfillment, and contentment. For others, it’s confusion, stress, and striving.

So how do we break the cycle of stress and resistance?

First, it’s essential to practice things that rewire your system, consistently, like Vedic meditation.

If you're not meditating daily yet, surrender is the next best tool - and the great thing is, you can practice it anytime during your day, in any situation that feels challenging.

Life will always throw curveballs, and when it does, emotions will surface. If you don’t know how to handle those emotions, your experience of life will always feel subpar.

That’s where todays newsletter comes in.

I’m going to teach you how to Let Go aka Surrender — how to release the negative emotions keeping you stuck and step into a new space of freedom, happiness and peace.

Surrender is the Shortcut

If you’ve ever felt stuck - whether it’s anger, guilt, anxiety, or fear - you know how heavy those emotions can feel.

They drain your energy, mess with your mental clarity, and disrupt your peace. And, they feel like they can last forever.

The trick isn’t in trying to control these emotions or escape from them. The real trick is learning to let them go.

Letting go is a skill that will transform your life, making everything flow with more ease and less resistance.

The key to unlocking peace, fulfillment, and joy is found when you surrender.

Another beautiful way I've heard it talked about which really resonated with me:

“To be surrendered means to have no strong emotion about a thing: “It’s okay if it happens, and it’s okay if it doesn’t.”

Imagine being in a flow with that state of mind?

Why Most People Fail:

We’re all control freaks.

Most people try to control their emotions by suppressing them or distracting themselves. But guess what?

What you resist, persists.

You can’t hide from emotions. They build up inside you until they explode in ways you don’t expect.

But you don’t have to live that way.

Most people don’t know how to let go.

If there was a manual for life, this practice would be on the first page.

But here we are, figuring it out as we go.

The peace you’re searching for isn’t something you find. It’s something you uncover - by letting go of the emotions keeping you anchored in old unwanted states of being.

The skill you should have on your CV

1. Your Emotions Aren’t the Problem - Your Resistance Is

Emotions like anger, fear, and sadness aren’t “bad.”

They’re just energy flowing through you. The problem is the resistance you create when you try to push them away.

Suppressing them doesn’t work. It just traps them inside.

2. Letting Go Doesn’t Mean Ignoring Your Feelings - It Means Fully Allowing Them

The key to letting go is to stop fighting your feelings. Instead of labeling them as bad or trying to suppress them, let them exist.

The act of letting go means allowing your emotions to be present without trying to control them.

3. Control Is an Illusion - Surrender Is Real Freedom

Most people think they’ll be happy once they control their emotions, circumstances, or people around them.

But guess what? Control is exhausting.

True freedom comes from surrender, from letting life unfold as it will, without trying to manipulate it.

4. Letting Go Is a Skill Anyone Can Learn

Letting go isn’t about willpower. It’s about awareness, acceptance, and release.

The more you practice it, the easier it becomes. Over time, you’ll feel lighter, freer, and more at peace.

''It is resistance that keeps the feeling going. When you give up resisting or trying to modify the feeling, it will shift to the next feeling and be accompanied by a lighter sensation.

A feeling that is not resisted will disappear as the energy behind it dissipates.''

HOW TO: The Letting Go Technique

Alright, here we go.

When something triggers an intense or uncomfortable emotion within you:

1. Bring Awareness to the Feeling

Notice the emotion you’re experiencing - whether it’s anger, sadness, fear, anxiety etc.

Acknowledge where it shows up in your body (is it in the stomach, throat, chest? Is it moving? Is it sharp, dull, solid, liquid, cold, hot, blurry, clear? Just become aware of it)

2. Allow the Feeling to Be There

Instead of suppressing or escaping it, let it exist.

Drop any judgment and just feel the emotion in its raw form.

3. Welcome It Fully

Don’t try to fight it or make it go away. Let it expand if it needs to.

Trust that it’s just energy moving through you.

4. Stay Present with It

Don’t try to fix it, analyze it, or judge it. Just sit with it, breathe through it, and allow it to pass in its own time.

(If you sit with it for around 120 seconds it will begin to change, dissolve and dismantle) Be patient - sometimes its longer.

5. Let Go of Resistance

Consciously release any resistance you feel towards the emotion. Remind yourself, “I allow this feeling to exist.”

6. Stay with It Until It Dissolves

Keep your focus on the feeling until it naturally shifts or fades.

The more you practice this, the less the emotion will have a hold on you.

Letting go isn’t a one-time event; it’s a lifelong practice.

Every moment offers you the opportunity to surrender and release what’s no longer serving you.

When you let go, you create space for peace, joy, and freedom to enter your life.

This simple practice will change your life and unlock doors to you that you never knew existed.

Are you ready to stop resisting and start living in flow?

What happened in your day where you could practice this in real time?

Did it help?
